Dr. Shuki Yeshurun, a material scientist and a micro system technology (MEMS) expert, recognized the need for a new and painless device that could be used outside clinical settings. Previously, taking biological fluid samples and drug delivery typically required conventional syringes. It was inconvenient, uncomfortable, time-consuming, undesirable for long-term treatment and required the intervention of authorized medical staff or trained personnel.
MEMS technology enables the creation of tiny yet elaborate devices with unprecedented mechanical stability and precision. NANOPASS' application of this technology overcame conventional limitations and provided superior drug delivery and diagnostic solutions. NANOPASS' solutions are disposable, low-cost, painless and patient-applied. They can be tailored to specific drug dosage profiles, or connected to the new Lab-On-Chip to provide a wide range of diagnostic information.

The company has raised $6.5 million in venture capital to further develop its proprietary intradermal drug delivery technology.
